Population and GDP per capita come from the World Bank API and refresh automatically. McDonald's restaurant counts come from publicly available data (ScrapeHero / Wikipedia). The source and year shown in the corner of each round tells you exactly where that round's data came from.
Ireland's GDP per capita is famously inflated by multinational corporations headquartering there for tax reasons. The value is real — but it doesn't reflect typical Irish income. It's one of the more surprising stats in the game.
Russia's McDonald's restaurants were sold and rebranded as 'Vkusno i tochka' in 2022, so officially there are no McDonald's there anymore. Countries with zero McDonald's are excluded from the McDonald's pool to keep rounds meaningful.
About 150 well-known countries from the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. We exclude micro-states (Vatican, Monaco), tiny islands (Niue, Tuvalu), and a handful of less commonly recognized countries to keep the game accessible.

Yes — the game is built for both desktop and mobile. On mobile, the two countries stack top and bottom instead of left and right.
