How to play
- 1Look at the flag, start typing a country and pick it from the list.
- 2If you're wrong, you see how far that country is from the right one, and a needle pointing toward it.
- 3You have six guesses. The daily flag is the same for everyone and changes at midnight UTC. Unlimited gives you a new flag whenever you want one.
Flags that look alike
Lots of flags share colors and layouts. These pairs are easy to mix up.

Guess the Flag FAQ
Which flags are in Guess the Flag?
All 197 countries: the 193 members of the United Nations, plus Vatican City, Palestine, Kosovo and Taiwan. Territories such as Greenland, Puerto Rico and Hong Kong aren't in the game.
When does the daily flag change?
At midnight UTC. Everyone gets the same flag that day. The number on the page counts the days since the daily started.
Will the daily flag repeat?
Not for a long time. The daily goes through all 197 countries in a fixed shuffled order, so a flag comes back only after the other 196 have had their day, about six and a half months later.
How does the leaderboard work?
Only the daily has one. Solve today's flag and you can add your name. Fewer guesses rank higher. If two players used the same number of guesses, the faster one ranks higher, timed from when the flag appeared to the right answer. You get one try a day.
How is the distance worked out?
In a straight line over the globe, from the middle of the country you guessed to the middle of the hidden one. The needle shows which way to head from your guess.
Is Guess the Flag free?
Yes, and there's nothing to sign up for. Your streak stays in your browser.
